How to Create a Pre-Authorised Payment Link from Partner Admin

Last updated Mar 31, 2026

Overview

Pre-authorised payments allow a business to temporarily reserve a specified amount on a customer’s card without capturing the funds immediately.

This is useful in situations where the final payable amount may change, such as:

  • Security deposits
  • Hotel or rental reservations
  • Orders where the final bill is determined later

When a pre-authorised payment is created, the customer’s card authorises the amount, but the funds are only transferred when the merchant captures the payment later.

Important

  • A pre-authorised payment link is single-use. Once the customer completes the authorisation, the link cannot be reused.
  • If the captured amount is lower than the authorised amount, the remaining balance is automatically refunded to the customer’s card.

1. Log in to Partner Admin

Log in to the Kayana Partner Admin using your credentials.

From the left-hand sidebar, go to:

Payment Services → Payment Links

This will open the Payment Links dashboard.

Click the Create Payment Link button.

4. Enter Payment Details

Fill in the required fields:

FieldDescription
Merchant ReferenceInternal reference for the payment
AmountAmount to be authorised
DaysValidity period for the payment link
DescriptionDescription of the payment

5. Enable Pre-Authorisation

Toggle the Pre-Authorisation button ON.

This ensures the payment will be authorised but not captured immediately.

Click Create Stripe Payment Link.

A toast notification will appear confirming that the payment link has been created successfully.

Return to the Payment Links screen where you will see the newly created payment link along with a unique reference number.

Copy the Stripe payment link and share it with the customer.

When the customer opens the link:

  1. They will be redirected to the Stripe payment page.
  2. They will enter their card details.
  3. The payment will be pre-authorised.

After completing the process, the customer will see a payment confirmation screen.

To view the details of the payment link:

  1. Go to the Payment Links page
  2. Locate the payment link
  3. Click View under the Actions column

You will be able to see the complete payment link details and status.
