Get Started on Setting up P400 Terminal

Follow these steps to get your P400 Plus payment terminal up and running. Some steps include links to more detailed instructions.

  1. Inspect the terminal first.
  2. Open the cover on the back of the terminal, connect the dongle cable, and close the cover.
  3. Tighten the cam lock screw on the back cover (if present) to help prevent damage to the cable connector.
  4. Turn on the terminal by connecting it to a power source. The display may turn on and off during startup.
  5. Select Configure network and connect the terminal to your network.
  6. Select Board the terminal, choose your store, and select Confirm.
    • Note: If "Board the terminal" doesn’t show, wait for the next synchronization with the Adyen platform (may take up to 3 hours) and try again.
  7. Run a test of the connection with:
    • the Adyen platform
    • your POS system

Once all steps are completed, your terminal is ready to process payments.

Inspect the Terminal

Because payment terminals handle sensitive data, ensure the terminal is secure and untampered.

  • Verify that the terminal box is unopened with the security seal intact.
  • The seal is a red label with a barcode and number, stuck across the box lid.
  • Break the seal, remove the terminal, and ensure the serial number (S/N) on the terminal matches the box.
  • Check for signs of tampering: missing seals, extra wires, holes, or any unusual attachments.
  • If anything appears wrong, contact the Support Team immediately.

Connect to Your Network

Connect your terminal to the internet to communicate with the Adyen payments platform.

Connecting to the Ethernet LAN

  • Plug an Ethernet cable into the dongle’s LAN port (marked with “ETH” or this symbol: !).
  • Do not connect the wrong cable or to the wrong port (e.g. RS232), which may damage the terminal.

Connect to Wi-Fi

  1. On the terminal, go to Configure network > Wi-Fi.
  2. Toggle Wi-Fi on.
  3. Select the + icon to add a network.
  4. Choose the desired network and enter the password, or manually enter SSID and password.
  5. Select ✔️ to confirm.
  6. The terminal sets this network as default and connects.
  7. A Wi-Fi icon appears at the top of the screen.

After the Terminal is Boarded

To change Wi-Fi settings after boarding:

  • Go to Settings > Network, enter your passcode, then:
    • Toggle Wi-Fi on/off
    • Change IP settings
    • Add another network

Test the Platform & POS Connections

Adyen Payments Platform

  • Go to Settings > Diagnostics > PSP connection.
  • Check if the Status is Successful.

POS System

  1. Go to Settings > Diagnostics > Terminal API.
  2. Confirm the Status is Successful.
  3. Select Cancel, then go to Diagnostics > Endpoints.
  4. The terminal runs 4 URL tests.
  5. Check if the final Status is Successful, or tap View results to check each one.

Turn On / Off the Terminal

When turning the terminal on for the first time or after being off for long, it may need 10–20 minutes for maintenance and updates.

  • Turn On: Connect to power. The display may blink during startup.
  • Reboot: Go to Settings > Power, enter passcode, select Restart, and confirm.
  • Turn Off: Disconnect the terminal from power.
